Divas develop together
FORGET, Sex and the City, these women are the real deal.
Entrepreneur Belinda Sugars and friend Tammy Edwards have formed Developing Divas – a ladies-only networking and support group for sassy working women. Mrs Sugars says she decided about two years ago to start sharing the trips and tools she learnt while setting up her own business.
Today, about 15 women front the monthly meetings held at various inner-city locations, to discuss together businesses and learn from each other.
Even in the beginning, Tammy always strived for
success. Her love for bringing people together
helped her form a networking group for women
which grew rapidly and raised thousands for
Catherine House through various fundraising
“When you’re working at a flower shop all day you don’t have any help or contact with other people” the 48 year old says “So every time the girls meet we share our success stories, get more exposure and help each other through things.” Earlier this month the Developing Divas hosted a charity movie screening at the Capri Cinema, Goodwood, and raised more than $10,000 for women’s refuge Catherine House.
Mrs Sugars, who owns Mortgage Choice of Fullarton, says the women have raised thousands of dollars for various charities since they started fundraising a year ago.
“We began to realise what women can achieve when they put their mind to it, so we moved into charity work as well.”
To stamp out any conflicts or idea-stealing, Mrs Sugars says only one type of business is allowed to join the group at a time.
